The Elves are Back: The Fourth Day of Christmas 2015

For a few years now, elves from the North Pole have stopped in on our little abode starting at midnight on the first day of Christmas. Leaving little trinkets - gum, Hershey Kisses, notepads etc. - but also leaving behind a letter for the girls to appreciate. The appreciation may not register until further down the road, but I have a feeling each letter represents a seed that will either flourish or dry up all depending on how well it's cared for and applied. The letters, while giving some sense of what goes on up north during this hectic time of year, also share anecdotal notes on life as well as the true meaning of Christmas.

Fourth Day of Christmas:

December 4th 2015

Happy Friday Morning, Graybill Girls! This will be a great day! I cannot wait to see your tree and see it all decorated. I love when the lights in the room are off and just the tree is lit up…it’s such a great time to sit down with family and listen to Christmas music or watch a funny, heart-warming movie. All of that makes me feel the joy Jesus wants us to feel when we’re with family.

We have a big family up here at the North Pole. We have our arguments, but we know at the end of the day what the most important things are – God whom gave us his only Son and being with family.

Promise me something girls. Promise me no matter how upset you get with each other that at the end of the day you always say you love each other. You are so lucky to be part of something very special: Sisterhood. It’s a powerful thing and I know some day you will understand that.

So, are you done making your lists? We’ve made some pretty cool things for you girls so far that we think you’re gonna love. There’s something that we can’t make though no matter how hard we could try and that’s something you yourselves can actually give to your parents. Do you know what it is? Respect. I know it’s hard, but it’s very important for young girls to make good choices and one of the best choices you can make is respecting your mommy and daddy. And if you mess up, just learn from it and keep showing love and kindness the best you can.

Always remember girls that we will always love you, but what is even more important than that is that your parents love you more than anything and they will always, always, always love you. No matter what.

Well, Rudolph kept his promise. He took me for the most amazing ride. We sailed through the sky and soared through rays of sunshine. It was so beautiful. Anyway, just thought I’d share.

Girls, have a wonderful day and have fun getting and decorating your tree. Enjoy every moment because those memories are precious.

We love you girls and are amazed by you every day.

Merry Christmas!

Your Elves,

Popcorn, Lollipop and Mittens
