The Elves are Back: The Fourteenth Day of Christmas 2015

For a few years now, elves from the North Pole have stopped in on our little abode starting at midnight on the first day of Christmas. Leaving little trinkets - gum, Hershey Kisses, notepads etc. - but also leaving behind a letter for the girls to appreciate. The appreciation may not register until further down the road, but I have a feeling each letter represents a seed that will either flourish or dry up all depending on how well it's cared for and applied. The letters, while giving some sense of what goes on up north during this hectic time of year, also share anecdotal notes on life as well as the true meaning of Christmas.

The Fourteenth Day of Christmas:

December 14, 2015

What a beautiful weekend! I’m so glad you had a chance to go outside and play. B and Sophie, it really made me happy to see the two of you play together at the playgrounds. Madison, you’re a good shooter! It’s fun watching you play. Don’t worry, you’ll beat your dad before you know it.

It also made me happy to see the family sit down and watch some movies together while surrounded by your beautiful trees. You watched two of my favorites too!

So, only a few more days of school until Christmas vacation begins! Do you think you can work hard for a little while longer before enjoying some time off? Just promise me that you’ll use that time off to really enjoy your time together.
Are all your lists complete? Anything else you want to add? Remember you may not get everything, but it’s still fun making a list.

It’s fun making a list while listening to your favorite Christmas song…what is your favorite? Mine I think is Oh, Holy Night. It just makes feel like I’m there in Bethlehem seeing our savior being born.

It’s fun making a list while listening to your favorite song while eating your favorite cookie…what’s your favorite cookie? Mine is…oh that’s hard…hmmm…maybe Snicker Doodles or those peanut butter cookies with Hersey Kisses or maybe sugar cookies. Either way, I’m making myself hungry.

Well, speaking of favorites, this is our favorite house to be in. Although it can be loud sometimes and there’s some not-so-nice words that are spoken, there is a lot of love in this home and we feel it every time we come here.

Time to head North! We love you girls and can’t wait to be back.

Merry Christmas!

Your Elves,

Nan-u Nan-u, Rocket and Twinkle-Toes
