The Elves are Back: The Nineteenth Day of Christmas 2015

For a few years now, elves from the North Pole have stopped in on our little abode starting at midnight on the first day of Christmas. Leaving little trinkets - gum, Hershey Kisses, notepads etc. - but also leaving behind a letter for the girls to appreciate. The appreciation may not register until further down the road, but I have a feeling each letter represents a seed that will either flourish or dry up all depending on how well it's cared for and applied. The letters, while giving some sense of what goes on up north during this hectic time of year, also share anecdotal notes on life as well as the true meaning of Christmas.

The Nineteenth Day of Christmas:

December 19, 2015

Good morning!

Less than a week Christmas is away, hmmm? Yes? Sorry, I know that sentence sounds a little funny, but all the elves up here got to watch the new Star Wars movie! Santa paid for all of us. What a treat! So we’ve been acting out scenes from all the movies and talking like our favorite characters ever since. It was such an exciting movie. I hear your daddy is going today with your uncle Ehren. They may just stay at the theater and watch it again and again and again and a…well, you get the idea.

Welcome to Christmas vacation! What a beginning, with all of you watching Home Alone 2! One of my favorites! So many funny parts J

Girls, I hope you are getting something out of these letters. We are seeing lots of love, but there still some yuckiness that needs to go away. Just keep trying your best to talk nicely and to think about things before you do them. It’s good practice for becoming women of character. You are wonderful kids and we continue to be amazed by you. You are all doing so well in school and are showing some great talents and skills in the things you do. Just remember to give God thanks for all that you have and all that you are.

Merry Christmas!

Your Elves,

Sugar, Sweetness and Tarty Tarty
