Elf Letters 2016: Night Six

For the last several years, Elves - with very interesting names - from the North Pole have come to visit our home beginning at midnight on the first day of December. They leave little trinkets for each of our daughters, but more importantly they leave a letter for them to read each morning. The great thing about the letters, that I've come to realize and appreciate, is that they each serve a purpose. They are not just quickly written notes on Post-its, but instead are filled with the importance of family, the real meaning of Christmas and a reminder of how special and beautiful (and fortunate) they each are. I look forward to their visits as much as the girls do.

December 6th 2016

Welcome to a brand new day, GIRLS! A new day is a fresh start and a FRESH start is always a GREAT beginning when your heart and mind are focused on the HEAVENLY father. I like to start out the day acknowledging GOD in prayer where I surrender to HIM by saying nothing can be done right without Him. He is in control and he has PLANS for us. For YOU!

Do you girls think a lot about what you what to be when you are OLDER? You probably think we ELVES are just born into the ELF business of making TOYS. Well, you’re RIGHT! But we LOVE every moment of it…accept when Mrs. Claus’ chili creates a…well, let’s say a FOG around the work room. But nothing a cool, crisp – sometimes brutal – North POLE wind can’t cure.

SANTA actually insists on us spending time with other things that interest us. He doesn’t want our lives to be JUST toys. A lot of us like playing basketball and baseball. I have several FRIENDS that enjoy writing and have written many books – mostly Self-Elf books. Many are cooks that help out Mrs. Claus in the KITCHEN many days. As a community, we have many talents. But one thing that both Mr. and Mrs. Claus are very emphatic about is no matter what activities WE enjoy, nothing is to ever BECOME more important than growing as CHRISTIANS.

That’s one of the many REASONS we love coming to your home so much. Your FAMILY not only celebrates Christmas, but believes in Christmas. The latter is SO very important.

Well, hot cocoa awaits us upon our RETURN. Time to crank up the CAROLS in the sleigh and head north. I think you need to get your DADDY to start putting those piano lessons from years…and years ago to good use and have you all sing carols WHILE he plays the piano.

Girls, you are AMAZING! Don’t ever let anyone or anything make you feel any differently. You are so special and important. We love you so much.

Your Christmas Elves,

Flipper, Fludder and Flop
